Chances are Batman himself would hate Gotham City Impostors GCI due to the fact that this game is the furthest thing from serious; but just because Bats is so serious, doesn’t mean the rest of us are. GCI takes more pages out of the book of Team Fortress 2 than it does out of any of the dark and broody Batman source material, and that’s okay.

So I found a FIX for this problem like you cannot see a player and cannot join any game:) and the solution was.. You see a Steam tab on.
The game was Gotham City Imposters and I was extremely excited to download and start working on the achievements. I installed it and played through the tutorial and then tried to enter matchmaking. There wasn’t a single game to connect to or a single person even in the lobby. I sat in matchmaking for several hours thinking it was just the servers or my connection and then found out from the GCI website that GFWL version is no longer being supported.
Why is a game that can’t be played on the very first page of PC Games??? I might have just thrown my money away and saved myself the headache. I feel like I have been deceived and even ripped off. I would really appreciate anything you could do to rectify the situation. Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help.
I’ve already been through the sites FAQ.

Games Beat. Now terrorizing the streets of Gotham City is an achievable dream for every Bat and Joker with a decent computer and an Internet connection. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today that Gotham City Impostors, a first-person multiplayer shooter that developer Monolith Productions released early this year, is now free to play on Steam.
First-person shooter Gotham City Impostors was released. I should love this. It sounded so silly, so camp , how could I not be slapping my thighs while smiling knowingly at the monitor? On one hand it offers a range customisations for you to trim the fat from the character, or add to it if you want a tougher head to deflect the bullets. It doles both out in the smallest possible increments as you play.
Making your character look like the sort of bad-ass Joker or Batman is hatefully boring. A slog.

Gotham City Impostors stands head and shoulders with every other big-box series No One Lives Forever, Monolith successfully marries Gotham lore to one blemish on the proceedings, it’s the matchmaking and net code.
Egregious DRM and poor matchmaking mar an otherwise surprisingly fun and accessible multiplayer shooter. He’d be laughed out of the office. There’s a formula for making a movie blockbuster. Games are different. In the world of games, it’s entirely possible for someone to walk into an important person’s office, pitch ‘Batman on rollerskates’ and walk out with a signed contract.
Gotham City Impostors is the result this pitch. You play one of a team of plucky wannabe Batman or Jokers, given a stack of ridiculous weapons, tools and gadgets and charged with annihilating the other team in creative and violent ways. The core of Impostors is a well-executed Modern Warfare clone, and the weapons are as weighty and satisfying as that implies.
Floating damage numbers means there’s good visual feedback as to what harm your shots are doing, and the more unusual weapons tend to have big colourful effects so you can easily tell what’s going on. Killing players and accomplishing objectives earns you XP, which levels you up, unlocking different weapons and abilities. The joy is in the insanity slathered on top. Each player gets a ‘gadget’. You start out with a grappling hook, and you can unlock the aforementioned rollerskates, spring-boots, smokebombs and — best of all — a hang-glider that lets you divebomb enemies from the air.
The unlocking system is elegant: you earn unlocks with your levels, then spend them on whatever you want.

Binnatics : Well, getting to know the game a bit through the challenges. A perfect way to get used to the available gadgets, weapons and maps. I already noticed everything has humour in it. The motto is: Don’t take yourself, or whatever, too serious. I like that.
A new thread has been posted on the official forums for Gotham City Impostors that aims to keep the community up to Sorry, you’re not old enough. Added “25th Floor” map; Added The Falcon Blade and Kingmaker weapons; Improved matchmaking (Join-in-progress functionality, dedicated server.
Culling inspiration from the modern multiplayer frameworks of Call of Duty , et al, and the humorous, inventive gameplay of their own series No One Lives Forever , Monolith successfully marries Gotham lore to this seemingly incompatible genre. Seriously, it works, and they make it look easy in the process. Not every game needs to satisfy this precept to be good you can read my thoughts on GTA in “Critically Acclaimed Games We Hate” for a pertinent counterexample , but when a title can merge its pitch, aesthetic, and play mechanics into a cohesive whole that doesn’t make the separation between concept and genre stand out, then you’re dealing with something special.
The developers achieve this by setting up a wealth of gameplay possibilities and ensuring that none of them go unexplored or underdeveloped. As I wrote in my beta impressions , players are cast as residents of Gotham City, who seem to be just as psychologically disturbed as Batman and the Joker themselves.
The minute the Bat-signal shorts out, they take to the streets for a bit of the old [adversarial] ultraviolence. Maybe it’s something in the water, but Monolith uses the few storytelling opportunities afforded to them- mainly details in the front-end, map design, and voice-work -to sell the scenario. While the concept sounds untenable for a Batman game how do you make one without Batman in it? Impostors is an immensely flexible, class-based affair.

Read this massive legal agreement before playing! And this one! We know it’s a pain, you’ll be playing soon. Now create a Warner Bros. Checking for downloadable content Class-based shooter Gotham City Impostors snuck out of Warner’s back door earlier this week, which strikes you as unusual for a first-person shooter based on one of the biggest licenses around and made by Monolith, developers of Condemned and FEAR.
The other problem is in the matchmaking, which is about as basic as it gets. You pick a game mode and it puts you in a game. That’s it. No choice.
You spin around and aim your weapon upwards, trying to catch a glimpse of the menace Spotting a nearby trampoline and bouncing off of it far into the air, you pull out a grappling hook at the apex and shoot it towards a distant building. Zooming across the sky you spot your prey, running along a nearby roof, and you disengage your hook and drop down behind him.
You pull a jack-in-the-box out of your pocket and throw it at him, cackling madly as it explodes in a direct hit and the screen tells you how many experience points you just earned from his death. First note the title, however- you’re not playing Batman, the Joker, or anyone sanctioned by either character. Or something. Cause really, story? Not that you ever need an excuse for that.
